Exeter City kept up with the pace at the top of League Two win over leaders Forest Green Rovers at St James Park.
After beating Crawley Town rovers overtook the Grecians in the summit a week, however, their stay was brief as Ryan Bowmans goal was all that separated the two teams.
Exeter won five corners within the opening seven minutes and made a fantastic start, but they didnt make them count.
The opening goal was not long in coming and it arrived on 11 minutes. Jack Sparkes showed trickery that was excellent on the left and left a low cross that found Bowman in the near post and that he volleyed to put the Grecians with his fifth goal of the effort.
Aaron Martin came into Exeters rescue with a brilliant block to deny Jack Aitchison, while Nicky Law must have done for Exeter, who countered but his lob drifted over the crossbar.
Rovers had a glorious opportunity to equalise when Aaron Collins had a header six yards out, but he had been refused by a stunning diving save by Exeter goalkeeper Jonny Maxted.
That was as good as it got with Exeter seeing the game out nicely to sit flat.
