(CNN) — buying a golf tournament has never been more rewarding.
The Experts’ winning handbag increased to $11 million in 2017. The Players Championship and the US Open’s winning purse climbed to $12.5 million final year. The winner of the FedEx Cup understands an 15 million.
Yet at the slow play of some leading players the sport has gotten something of a crisis of confidence in recent weeks.
Especially, American Bryson DeChambeau has been criticized by his fellow professionals at the Northern Trust event in New Jersey earlier this month.
Shortly after, new protocols which could observe players punished with punishment strokes to get slow play in the future were announced by the European Tour.
“From our stand pointthere were 1.2 million shots that were hit this year,” PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan told CNN Sport’s Patrick Snell, speaking about possible adjustments to the match.
“And you’ve got some cases where players are taking an excessive amount of time. Like every thing else in our business, this is something we are always monitoring”

He continued:”We are not stuck in our own ways. We know that players all around the world are currently seeing the top players on earth around the PGA Tour and the LPGA Tour, plus they mimic their activities.
“And therefore, if there’s a chance for us to make a positive contribution to the match and continue to elevate our merchandise, that is what we’re going to perform.”
A changing world
With the entire world moving at a location that is quicker and the growing effect of networking, attention spans are arguably becoming shorter.
Fans need action packed into their experience and shorter intervals between play.
“If you take a look at speed of play and you also take a have a look at the way in which the world is shifting and the need that everything occur faster than it did in the past, it’s something we’ve been considering,” Monahan added.
“We’ve been considering it because February 2019. We are talking to our players council as well as our players and we are going to use this as an opportunity. It’s not about any player.
“It is about our company putting a system in place that enables us to improve and finally can help excite those individuals who are going to watch and mimic the terrific players on the planet, their pre-shot patterns, how they approach the game.
“But not everything is going to be perfect and you have got to identify the regions you can improve and that is what we’re doing.”

‘Inspiring and amazing’
Regardless of slow play’s dilemma, there were a few thrilling narrative lines throughout this season that have experienced viewers.
From Tiger Woods’ remarkable comeback to win the Masters, to Brooks Koepka changing to the game’s newest superstar, and Shane Lowry’s fairy tale Spacious win in Royal Portrush, it has made for enjoyable viewing.
As a sport is in a location that is good and Monahan states golf.
“How we look at this new schedule is we are at a period of championships, starting in March with the Players all of the way via the Open Championship at July which leads us to the FedEx Cup Playoffs,” Monahan said.
“So, when you examine the champions we have had from that year, from Rory McIlroy to Tiger Woods to Brooks Koepka into Gary Woodland to Shane Lowry, and you also think about the standard of these championships, the championships themselves were inspirational and outstanding.

“And they have all grown. Those championships are still thrive. And what you are seeing as we all get into the period of championships as well as also the FedEx Cup Playoffs is much more eyeballs and much more energy on our sport as we continue to attempt to play with our roster to increase our game up and go forwards.
“What annually. Think about every of those events I just mentioned and those champions and what they did to get there along with the excitement. You have got to be feeling really good about where we are heading.”
