The Tennessee Titans employed a first-round pick on defensive handle Jeffery Simmons knowing he may not have the ability to play this year after tearing an ACL in February.
Talking to the media for the first time because the draft, Simmons said Tuesday after Titans minicamp practice that he’s not rushing the process, even if that means missing the whole 2019 campaign.

“I am not rushing anything,” Simmons explained, via The Tennessean. “If I don’t play this season, I am fine with it, but my aim is to find fit on my time and on this team’s time. There’s no time limit and once I could return. Every day I come to work, I’m placing my mindset, you understand,’I want to get back today.’ That is the way I come to work everyday and try to get better.”
Simmons was projected to move higher than the No. 19 spot where he landed with Tennessee prior to the ACL tear happened while training. If everything goes right, the standard deadline for retrieval from such an accident would make a return possible in the end of the season. The Titans could also decide to offer him an entire year to rehab.
The DT has to begin jogging and is not sure when he will have the ability to start that part of the rehab process.
The Titans made the Simmons choice with a mind later on. Pairing the Mississippi State merchandise with perennially underrated Jurrell Casey can give Tennessee a devastating duo. Finally. For now, the rookie isn’t pushing the procedure.
