The dust has finally settled on whats been a wild offseason for the NHL, also the 2019-20 season around the horizon, sportsbooks are getting ready for what is shaping up to be another exciting year in the ice by releasing OVER/UNDER point totals for all 31 clubs in the approaching campaign.
BetOnline has tabbed the Tampa Bay Lightning (108.5), Toronto Maple Leafs (101.5), Boston Bruins (100.5), Vegas Golden Knights (100.5) and Colorado Avalanche (98.5) since the clubs with the best opportunities to post the highest point totals. A few teams that I like to go OVER their projected point totals are the Chicago Blackhawks (90.5) and Florida Panthers (96.5) The greatest reason why I like the OVER in both situations is goaltending. Overall manager Stan Bowman created a splash in free agency by signing netminder Robin Lehner, although chicago year in 2018-19 underwhelm.
At a place that is prime, the Blackhawks are with Lehner from the fold to help shoulder the load 34-year-old Corey Crawford to improve in their album that is 36-34-12 from a year ago. In the end, Lehner had been a Vezina Trophy finalist due to a 25-13-5 record,??2.13 goals-against typical and .930 save percentage in his one season with the New York Islanders.
Florida boasted one of the worst goaltending tandems in the league this past year, but because of the fertility of Roberto Luongo and the transaction of James Reimer into the Carolina Hurricanes, the Panthers will have a brand new appearance in net after registering star goalie Sergei Bobrovsky into a seven-year, $70-million deal.
With a franchise netminder in between the pipes, an offense that overlooks the ninth-most aims in 2018-19 (264) and one of the greatest coaches in the NHL at Joel Quenneville in his very first year on the seat, I expect the Panthers to be a playoff team and then soar over their 96.5-point projection.
