“We could win it, most definitely. That’s the exciting thing,” explained Mitchell.

“Some gamers will have to measure up. You notice that in other World Cups historically – they ask questions of gamers who likely didn’t expect they were going get as much enjoying time.,” added Mitchell.
“But it’s amazing this tournament does in relation to attracting more out of players. You need to connect with your mates, you need to trust your mates, nor fear making a mistake”
If Eddie Jones’ side top Group C they and Wales or Australia could fulfill in the quarter-finals, both of whom beat them in the group stage.
Hooker Jamie George is currently taking inspiration to raise the World Cup.
“I watched a video the other day on social media of Martin Johnson following the 2003 closing that people have not seen very much,” George told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“It had been a remarkably dreadful interview. He talked about all the back-room staff, the gamers who had got them.
“I simply thought to myself’What an incredible leader.’ And then, what an incredible place to be in.
“It’s the juices flowing. It provides you goose-bumps just considering it.
“We’re finally in Japan and it is almost a little bit surreal. But you dream about these matters; you dream about winning World Cups.
“There is a genuine belief in the squad that we’re able to do it. We’re also aware that it’s going to take a great deal for us to arrive. I’m incredibly confident we’re in a place.
“I really don’t believe many nations in the world can say they have obtained the depth we have.”
New Zealander Mitchell, who coached the All Blacks to the semi-finals in 2003 and helped get the USA through eligibility for this tournament, considers now will be begun by his charges again.
“New Zealand are two-time world champions and they’ve had some current form too,” he said.
“They’ll like the terms also because it will suit their type of soccer – they prefer to move it about, they’re probably the ideal catch-pass team at the competition so that I would offer them a wonderful chance.
“You have then obtained Ireland and Wales who have had really good success over the past few decades. And I wouldn’t dismiss the Springboks – that they look very strong.”
New Zealand match South Africa on Saturday (10:45) in possibly the biggest game of the opening weekend. The two countries who have won five World Cups between them.
