Joe Cullen insists he is great sufficient to win a major after he claimed the Darts Matchplay championship.
Cullen, nicknamed’Rockstar’, acquired his maiden European Tour title with a remarkable victory over world No 1 Michael van Gerwen in the final.
He’s set his sights major glory in the coming months, although the 30-year-old from Bradford currently has three PDC titles to his title.
“One hundred per cent it is about time that I got into some European Tour final, let alone winning . It’s been a long time coming,” said Cullen, who’s now back in the planet’s top 16.
“To conquer the guy himself MVG at the final is a dream come true, ” I can not put into words how happy I am at the moment.
“Hopefully this will get me into the Grand Slam, since I’ve never played with that tournament in my career.
“If I am good enough to win one of these then I’m good enough to win a big.”
It is not very long to wait patiently till darts is back on Sky Sports, the World Grand Prix gets underway Sunday, October 6 in Dublin’s Citywest Arena and seven times of coverage continues until the final on Saturday, October 12.
