Joe Cullen insists he’s good enough to win a major after he claimed the European Darts Matchplay championship.
Cullen, nicknamed’Rockstar’, acquired his maiden European Tour title with a remarkable victory over world No 1 Michael van Gerwen at the final.
He’s set his sights major glory in the forthcoming months, although the 30-year-old in Bradford currently includes three PDC ranking titles to his title.
“One hundred percent it’s about time that I got into a European Tour closing, let alone winning you. It has been a long time coming,” said Cullen, who’s back in the planet’s top 16.
“To conquer the guy himself MVG in the final is a dream come true, ” I can not put into words how happy I am at the moment.
“Hopefully this can get me to the Grand Slam, because somehow I’ve never played that tournament in my own career.
“If I’m good enough to acquire one of them then I’m good enough to win a big.”
It’s not very long to wait until darts is back on Sky Sports, the World Grand Prix gets underway Sunday, October 6 in Dublin’s Citywest Arena October 12, and seven days of policy continues until the final on Saturday.
