Phil Taylor hints at possibility of a darts comeback, saying the game lacks characters

Phil Taylor admits he has missed competing against Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson and has hinted at making a comeback.
Taylor won 214 pro championships, such as a list 85 big titles and a record 16 World Championships. He retired after his 2018 World Championship last defeat to Rob Cross in the game.
‘The Power’ is a firm believer in technical progress in darts, and the 59-year-old feels he’d have no problem re-adjusting today when he made a return.

He’s launched his new Generation 6 darts through Goal where the arrows have a brand new bit of technology known as Swiss Point that enables players to change the things on their darts at a matter of moments, which has made Taylor consider creating a sensational return to the oche.
“I’ve enjoyed my retirement but now all these new ideas are coming out, it’s like having a brand-new car and being a racing car driver,” Taylor told Sky Sports.
“I would really like to get another bash, particularly at Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson. I do miss that little bit of camaraderie. They say it’s very quiet, today the clinic room is dead and nobody is having any fun. The youngsters are currently standing there using iPods in their ears.
“Me Aidy (Lewis) used to have a ideal laugh.”
Taylor asserts the sport is lacking personalities due to the quantity of money involved getting more professional than ever.
“The sport has gone quite serious with the money involved and I can understand them being really severe. If you don’t work 12, it is sometimes a career. If a few of these pros do not do something to reinvent themselves, they’re going to return the rankings as fast as anything.”
He also admits not watching any darts but the November he’d tune-in to watch Leighton Bennett, who’s obtained the game and is now at the Grand Slam of Darts.
“Someone just asked me a question about Bennett and should have a wildcard to Wolverhampton? My answer was that I don’t watch the darts but when Bennett understands a wildcard since he is exciting I’ll watch it. He is a nightmare to play,” he explained.
Though Bennett gained his revenge, beating the at the SAP Darts Slam in Frankfurt back, taylor conquered the youngster 10-7 in the Tower of London in March.
“I have played with him a couple of times and he is an absolute nightmare, since he is a young lad and he is good,” Taylor added. “He has no fear in him whatsoever. I quite enjoy that in him”
