Ben Stokes given 85.7% chance of winning SPOTY following Ashes heroics

England cricketer Ben Stokes is as short as 1/6 to be crowned Sports Personality of the Year 2019 after producing one of their greatest performances in the Ashes.
Those chances mean some bookmakers are suggesting an 85.7% likelihood Stokes scoops the person accolade in December.
With a whopping 91.7% of bets on the marketplace in the past 24 hours, he is unsurprisingly definitely the most backed.
The 28-year-old had one hand to the prize in England World Cup as a result of his participation win in the end of May.
However, yesterday his amazing 135 not-out only (with a bit of assistance from his bespectacled sidekick Jack Leach) rescued England’s Ashes campaign at Headingley.
Australia had the momentum after lunch and when Stokes’ partnership with Jonny Bairstow was introduced to an end, all seemed lost for England.
Putting on a last wicket stand of 76 runs to complete a 359 run pursuit, Stokes hit on 74 of the runs, such as an six.
The Ashes series is currently tied 1-1 and Stokes has written his own name with a few of their most astonishing individual performances in sport to the history books.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson:”After Ben Stokes hammered that final four his fist rose moments before the whole nation jumped to the feet.
“He’s had the English loyal in the palm of his hands all summer, and yesterday’s antics have catapulted him away against cricketing hero to some thing similar to a legend of English sport. If Freddie Flintoff was worthy of SPOTY in 2005, they may also donate it to Ben Stokes now.”
