Last Minute Application Tips!. Grades and test ratings are important in the admission process; there is no doubt about this. But, themselves academically and who have performed well in school, we rely on the qualitative factors of the application to arrive at a decision while we are looking for students who have challenged. At this point into the process, highschool seniors should focus their attention regarding the presentation components of the application: the essay, short answers, extracurricular tasks, plus the page of recommendation.

The Essay

The essay is just a student’s opportunity to tell us who they are shmoop.pro, perhaps not only being a person but also as a student. The most successful essays would be the most essays that are authentic. We are certainly to know who our applicants are. The most readily useful advice I will give to students is to ‘be your self’.

Short Answers

They are called short answers, buuuut they shouldn’t be too brief of a response. The short answers are taken very seriously inside our review process. They provide us valuable understanding in to a student’s academic interest aswell as their commitments outside of the class room.

Extracurricular Activities

We are seeking pupils who are going to be active members regarding the USC community. I always suggest that students list any commitments they have outside of this classroom. This consists of clubs that are traditional sports, volunteer organizations, work experience etc. But inaddition it includes, non-traditional activities such as for example caring for siblings or other family people, productive hobbies like photography, marathon training or everest that is climbing.

Letter of suggestion

Students often feel like they cannot have control over their letter of guidelines; yet, students do have control over whom they approach to write a page of recommendation with the person. We require that at least one suggestion come from someone who can touch upon the student’s academic character and possible (in other words. therapist or teacher).

The festive season is we call file review season in our office upon us which also coincides with what. The December 1 merit scholarship deadline has passed away at USC, however there is still time to use by the January 10 final application deadline for first-year applicants.

Although January 10 may feel remote since it’s of a month away, now could be the time that is best to place the finishing touches on the application, such as securing any final recommendation letters and having someone proofread your essay. Visiting Campus over the Holiday Break? No problem!

I spent part of my Monday morning at USC’s bookstore while our file review system was temporarily down. In the midst of finding the precise size and item that I became looking to buy as a Christmas time gift for a family member, We took an instant to pause and look around—the bookstore was extremely busy! We wondered the thing that was going on and realized that not only are finals winding down this week, but pupils are preparing to go home for the holiday break and were also doing some last-minute gift shopping. The bookstore was super crowded previously this week, but by this weekend, our campus are mostly empty as the University closes for getaway break from December 22 January 1.

Even though the admission office will not be staffed over the break, prospective students and families are welcome to visit campus and take their particular self-guided tour! We realize that many visitors want to tour USC on weekends and in other cases of year when we don’t provide formal trips, thus we’ve created the official USC Self-Guided Tour pamphlet for the college visit needs! This resource follows the path that is same USC guides take on their tours and it includes a map and pictures of significant buildings and locations on campus as a guide. On the way, you’ll start to see the Campus Center that houses student offices and dining options, academic buildings, and libraries such as Doheny Memorial Library, the oldest research library on campus. Just like every trip led by our present students, the self-guided tour ends at the infamous statue of Tommy Trojan. Through the entire 12 months, you are able to often see students, alumni, and other guests taking pictures in front of Tommy, so don’t be timid to take one yourself!

Just What tour could be complete without supplying information regarding the certain areas around campus and things to do in l . a .? Regarding the page that is final of brochure, various local museums, restaurants, recreations venues, and shopping locations are highlighted in case campus visitors want to explore areas off campus, as well.

You are sure to get a sense of what our beautiful campus and the city of LA have to offer whether you see USC on your own or led by a tour guide. Enjoy the holiday break!
