After maintaining his unbeaten record over fences using a comparatively hard-fought victory from the Cheestrings Novice Chase at Listowel wicklow Brave is prepared to go.
Willie Mullins’ 10-year-old is already a Group One winner on also a Grade One scorer over battles in the Punchestown Champion Hurdle and the Flat at the Irish St Leger.
For a very long way the affair really only included two, together with Rachael Blackmore on Henry de Bromhead’s Jan Maat the veteran.
As Paul Townend began to row out approaching the second-last, which the 1-2 favourite met slightly wrong blackmore looked the more convinced of the two jockeys.
He was still in it wearing Jan Maat to win with three-quarters of a length and finally approaching the final fence fulfilling with it on a long stride.
Mullins stated:”Paul said he landed in the middle of the very first fence and it upset him for a circuit.
“Then he got jumped well again, but the same fence on another circuit next time he made an error whatsoever, but his piece of course ultimately won it for him.
“That’s his final race side of the Atlantic for some time as we proceed to Far Hills for its Grand National Hurdle Stakes in October next. Otherwise I’d have gone to Tipperary about October 4, but it’s too close to the American race.
