Joe Cullen insists he’s great enough to win a big after he maintained the European Darts Matchplay championship on Sunday.
Cullen, nicknamed’Rockstar’, landed his maiden European Tour title with an impressive victory over world No 1 Michael van Gerwen in the closing.
He’s set his sights glory in the forthcoming months, although the 30-year-old in Bradford now includes three PDC titles to his title.
“One hundred per cent it is about time that I got into some European Tour final, let alone winning one. It has been a long time coming,” said Cullen, who is now back in the planet’s top 16.
“To beat the guy himself MVG at the last would be a dream come true, I can’t put into words how happy I am at the moment.
“Hopefully this can get me to the Grand Slam, because I’ve never played that championship in my career.
“If I’m good enough to acquire one of them then I am good enough to win a major.”
It is not long to wait patiently till darts is back on Sky Sports, the World Grand Prix gets underway on Sunday, October 6 in Dublin’s Citywest Arena October 12 and seven days of policy continues until the closing on Saturday.
