Gareth Southgate: Keeping England manager ‘tough ask’ for FA, says technical director Les Reed

FA technical manager Les Reed has confessed it could be a”demanding request” to prevent Gareth Southgate out of leaving his position as England boss to join a Premier League club.

In where he had been sacked shortly his side had been expelled in the Premier League, the previous experience as a club manager came in a spell at Middlesbrough.
“It would be a hard ask based on what he had been provided,” Reed told Sky Sports News. “But I understand Gareth’s mindset at the moment is that he wishes to be an England manager that wins something.
“I think the fascination of becoming the next England boss to draw us into some World Cup final is a strong pull and I think he knows that by doing his stock is not going to return.
“Obviously it’s something which we have in the back of our heads all of the time but I know Gareth’s motivation is with this group and developing this group moving forward.”
England will be looking to maintain their best start to the campaign when they sponsor Kosovo on Tuesday evening and have taken their impressive form under Southgate into qualifying for the 2020 Championships.
