Karl-Anthony Towns might be the ideal player discussed up to now, particularly when accounting for the fact he’s still only 23 years old.
He’s going to average at least 21 points and 12 rebounds for the third time in four seasons. Only 15 players during NBA history have done. Insert a nightly triple and it is Towns with three these seasons and four total for each player. This is not just quantity splashing, either. Since the start of 2016-17, his 39.8 three-point percent is 14th highest among players with 300-plus makes.
Coming from this All-Star fracture, Towns has established himself into the stratosphere. Over his past seven outings, he has averaged 35.1 points, 14.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 59.7 percent from the field and 48.9 percent from range.
“It’s just joking,” Timberwolves newcomer Josh Okogie stated, per The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski. “We are all witnessing it.”
But the challenge of Minnesota is finding someone else who will ascend alongside Towns. Andrew Wiggins is a quantity scorer paid like a superstar. The remainder of the roster is comprised of youngsters or aging vets who figure to top out as role players.
It is hard to tell just how Towns will get, unless this office aces a mid-first-round selection.
